Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Lake Legal ("Lake Legal," "the firm," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with this website at lakelegal.co (the "Site"). We value discretion, and we keep our data practices deliberately limited. Please read this policy together with our Terms of Use, Cookie Policy, and Legal Disclaimer and Notices.
1Information We Collect
Information you send to us
The Site does not include a data-collection web form. The primary way to reach the firm is by email. When you contact us at inquiries@lakelegal.co, we receive the information you choose to provide, which typically includes your name, your email address, and the contents of your message. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information until an engagement has been established in writing. See our Legal Disclaimer and Notices.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, certain technical and usage information is collected automatically through our hosting and analytics providers. This may include:
- your IP address and general location derived from it;
- your browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings;
- the pages you view, links you click, time spent, and other interaction data;
- referring websites and the dates and times of your visits; and
- server log data and security-related information.
2How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your inquiries and communicate with you;
- operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
- understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
We do not use information from the Site to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
3Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity, a behavioral analytics service that helps us understand how visitors interact with the Site. Microsoft Clarity uses cookies and may capture session replay data, such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and pages viewed, to produce aggregated heatmaps and session recordings. This information helps us improve the layout and usability of the Site.
For more detail on the specific cookies used and how to control them, see our Cookie Policy. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies on the Site.
4Third Parties and Service Providers
We rely on a small number of reputable third-party providers to operate the Site. These providers process certain information on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own terms:
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation), for behavioral analytics and session replay, as described above.
- Cloudflare, which provides content delivery, security, and hosting infrastructure for the Site and processes server log and security data.
- Google Fonts (Google LLC), which serves the typefaces used on the Site. When fonts load, your IP address is shared with Google so the font files can be delivered to your browser.
We encourage you to review the privacy notices of these providers to understand their practices. We do not control how these third parties use information they collect under their own terms.
5Data Retention
We retain email correspondence for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, to maintain our business records, and to comply with legal and professional obligations, after which it is deleted or archived in the ordinary course. Automatically collected analytics and log data are retained according to the default retention periods of our analytics and hosting providers and are generally used in aggregate.
6Do Not Sell; No Sale of Personal Information
Lake Legal does not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers described above, as needed to operate the Site, or as required by law.
7Your Choices and Rights
You have several ways to control the information collected through the Site:
- Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and limit tracking. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the Site function. See our Cookie Policy for details.
- Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.
- Opting out of analytics. You can limit Microsoft Clarity by blocking cookies, by using browser privacy settings or extensions, and through the controls described in our Cookie Policy.
- Email. You can choose not to send us information by email, or ask us to delete correspondence you have sent, subject to our record-keeping and legal obligations.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable state or other privacy laws, such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any available right, contact us using the details in the "Contact Us" section below. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
8Data Security
We take reasonable measures intended to protect information handled in connection with the Site, including the use of providers that offer transport encryption and security controls. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or from the Site.
9Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a professional, adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
